  1. Good point. There is another Fendt dealership in Gloucestershire http://www.jjfarm.co.uk
  2. I think the nearest ag dealers would be Lister Wilder in Cirencester. They might be interested. They're exhibiting anyway.
  3. I think Hitler was Catholic! a point made by Richard Dawkins in The God Delusion is that however 'evil' these types of people may be they don't commit their atrocities IN THE NAME OF atheism unlike Christians, Muslims etc. Islam is a few hundred years younger than Christianity so is perhaps going through it's Crusades/Conquistadores/Spanish Inquisition phase. I'm totally in favour of tolerance and like the concepts of secularism as described in Dagmar's post but I think it's naive to entirely separate all the nice loving charitable Muslims (or any other group) from the fundamentalist extremists amongst them. There is an 'element' of convert or die in both Islam and Christianity. Now one for the Neo-Darwinian Mechanists - if life is purely a chance occurrence what the **** does 'evil' mean? or come to that good - surely there is only survival and procreation - we're just here to further the existence of DNA?!
  4. see link in my last post - this leaflet uses the term 'required' in reference to it's list of PPE
  5. http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/afag203.pdf Try this!
  6. nice one!
  7. we'll have some new harnesses on our stand J7. would appreciate opinions about them. also some smart new specs etc from Bolle. plus our 'exclusive' lines Treemme and Steitz Secura boots, arblite clothing etc
  8. kinda agree about Dawkins but he's a bit evangelical himself. i was brought up in a strict minority 'Christian' environment but would now say i'm atheist. i think the idea that we can reject organised religion but not God is just bet hedging - 'I think there must be something more to life' - sorry - there isn't! Dawkins however fails to explain the existence of religions tho' he does have a go on a genetics/Darwinian basis. i suspect we all think we're so special that 'death can't be the end' so all sorts of systems are constructed to deal with this. sorry - got a bit carried away.
  9. There is no particular reason why PPE should be VAT free. As far as I know there is no logic in this - we've talked to various members of HMRC over the years and it just seems to be an anomaly that safety helmets and boots (NOT shoes!) are zero rated if purchased by the user for their own personal use - it's just the law - it doesn't have to make sense!
  10. You could try the corded or banded ear plugs http://www.sevsafe.co.uk/acatalog/Bilsom_Ear_Plugs.html also safety sunglasses http://www.sevsafe.co.uk/acatalog/Bolle_Safety_Spectacles.html
  11. The original blue arblite trousers were first introduced nearly 3 years ago so that's about right! The Truflex outer material is black. We're always open to constructive criticism so would be pleased to hear any ideas about what would encourage you to wear these rather than, for instance, Stretch Air owhy
  12. I'm a bit surprised at this as arblite hasn't been on the market for 3 years yet. The Truflex was only introduced last August (2007).
  13. Whoops! this is wrong. Sorry I was going from memory which is a bad mistake at my age. There is a provision in EN 381-3 : 1996 for 'Additional cuts for footwear with non-metallic toecaps' (Para 6.2.5)
  14. To be picky the make up of the toecap is irrelevant as far as the test goes because the test cut positions don't include the toe cap. When the tests were devised it was the rest of the boots that was an issue not the toecaps because they were all steel.
  15. Being cut through by a chainsaw is not the only limitation of composite toe caps they are also less resistant to lateral forces so although they pass the same impact test as steel or aluminium toe caps they are not so good if you drive a vehicle over them e.g. They were largely introduced because of the problems with steel toecaps in airports and other places with metal detecting security systems. However because of subsequent research one major airport at least (Amsterdam) has gone back from composites/plastic to using steel or aluminium
  16. were these the current class 3 boots? there have been several incarnations of the Hunter Forester so it's worth being careful
  17. The one's that we (sevsafe) were selling at a reduced price have now all gone. These were the old type which were more expensive than the newer ones because they had protection pretty much up to the top whereas the new ones just have the same protected area as the Hunter Forester Boots. Incidentally we can supply either boots or waders for the same price as the Hunter direct site - they will be on our website soon.
  18. we've got a few odds and ends of Swanndri left
