  1. be careful not to catch the wire fid on the core when feeding it threw, when pulling the new core threw pull the old core also, on some ropes removeing some of the new cores strands helps. I hope that makes some sence!
  2. Welcome to the woodmans choice will-d

  3. is that homegrown timbers john deere heizohack combo?
  4. Had it on and off for 2years now, same as already sad get an elbow suport and you can carry on work!
  5. Dammit! My pm is not telling me I had a reply, yes splicing the double braid has got me hooked, 16 strand next, I have started but have been waiting to get a wire coat hanger to make a fid as the one I made was crap, way to soft and bendy. It's been hard as hell to obtain a wire coat hanger.

Hopefully I will be going on one of Nods courses in Feb to learn more, have you ever considered doing a course to instruct? I only ask as you live close and make splicing look like a piece of piss. :)

  6. yes thats me see you got spliceing! Never realised who you were at caple manor when i said no to your used rope would of taken it away to do as i not far from you in stroud area.

  7. Hello mate, are you Nods splicer? I have met you a couple of times if you are.

  8. I always have my lanyard above the pully when riging a spare to have it below could be far more serios. I am lanyarded in twice the second is atached to my central d rings.
  9. Another pic, I cut the oaks last winter
  10. just found out how to post pictures
  11. Spliceing is something which people should be encouraged to understand how it is done and to be able to do themselves this would leed to more knowledge about rope your hanging from. Is more certification the way forward when a splice is stronger and safer than a knot.More concerning is the lack of knowledge of wot rope is suitable for certain situations. Some factory splices are of a very pore quality in my opionon.
  12. dynema in a friction hitch? NO
  13. the amount of rope being worn with tenex is a high percentage of its stength. A double braid even when the cover is worn still retains a high percentage of its stength because of the core, hope that makes sence.
  14. tenex is not realy suitable as your friction hitch in a climbing system and there are plenty of cords avalible designed for that purpose, Pete is wright in my opinion.
