  8. Ok guys, not so much of a competition as a task this one. This year i am going to be monitoring new user membership taking particular note of the referrer of the new user, that being who told them about arbtalk. Depending on how this first competition goes i plan on offering a prize on a monthly basis to the top referrer in that given period. As we are half way through this month already this time round the competition will run till the end of February. The user with the highest amount of referrals will win a stretch air t-shirt. There are no rules other than do not cheat! I will be monitoring new members and will check that ip addresses are unique, this basically means that if you log in as more than one user from the same computer terminal I will know! So simply spread the word about arbtalk, and be sure to tell your friend(s) to put your name down as their referrer in the registration form. best of luck!
  9. just a regular day then eh mate?
  10. at the moment through the quick links button, but i may add a button for the groups. you can subscribe to individual discussions within your group and you will get email notifications. this is in the discussion tools menu at the top right of the discussion you are viewing
  11. not sure thats possible. ive increased the amount of messages per page instead so unless the thread gets very long most of the messages should show on 1 page
  12. actually work got cancelled today due to the guy being ill i was working for so i did most of this in the middle of the night to avoid disruption. im good to you lot!
  13. i like my saw to be tied on with a clove hitch
  14. bowline in all its forms.,,,regular, running and on the bite. one of the most useful knots you will use IMO
  15. The social group area of the site has been expanded upon in the latest site upgrades. Amongst other things you can now open individual discussions within your chosen group. Please be aware, that these social groups add a whole new depth to the site, one that myself and the other moderators can not possibly hope to cover on a regular basis. The same rules apply to these areas that apply to the main forum, these can be read at http://arbtalk.co.uk/index.php?pageid=forumrules If you have started your own usergroup or intend to, please understand that you are taking on the role of moderator in that area and that you are responsible for seeing that site protocol is met. These areas will be looked at from time to time and any usergroup in repeated violation of the rules will be removed. Like all other areas of the site, please use your common sense, and above all, be civil! thanks

  18. remind me how old you are again now cerne?? 41 isnt it?
  19. ok all done. theres been quite a few changes made to the site, most of whih you wont notice, the main areas that have been improved that you will see a change is in the social groups. the layout is a lot nicer and also you are able to open individual discussions now much like the main forum. I have taken the libery of choosing my own images for wach group but these can be changed by the usergroup manager if not appropriate. There is also a new menu you will find beneath your list of private messages which lets you sort through your messages by date, sender etc.
  20. well i certainly wont be now. wasnt really planning this for tonight but as work was cancelled for tomorrow i dont need to get to bed early!
  21. Arbtalk will be down at midnight tonight for some exciting(hopefully) new upgrades. shouldn't be more than 1 hour, but i expect most of you will be in bed by then!
