  1. welcome chip, the first post is always the hardest:001_smile:
  2. hmmm i reckon his measurements are out....that was more than 9 cubic meters in that trunk, im sure
  3. if you get any really outstanding footage i could host it on arbtalk in full quality.
  4. just got the measurements through on that beech tree, comes in at 312 cubic feet, which equates to roughly 15.5 ton
  5. what camera is it mate? if i have a good month i think im going to treat myself to a pov-1
  6. yeah fine by me of course...dont want no part in no interviews myself though, im shy
  7. mines held up pretty good so far. i guess i must have had it about 7 months now. i dont carry it in my trousers when im working though like i used to with my regular phones.
  8. mark, note at the very end of the video when the camera pans onto the trunk, you can see how the fibres have held at the buttreeses
  9. no idea. i would expect half a day for 2 men (the estate provided an additional man + tractor + teleporter, plus traffice lights, bill must have run up somewhere in the region of £600-£700
  10. careful mr humphries, you are breaching the realms of brown nosing and treading very dangerously into brown lipping territory!
  11. make sure they fill your name in the referrer field
  12. haha nice try...unfortunately i have multiple log in detector install on the server
  13. been called worse mate. splitting wedges?
  14. yes mate, just on the bend at the little bridge
  15. if im at the very tip of a poplar or something and a little unhappy about being there i'll knock the top off first to make it a little more stable. mark, beech are best felled low, if you leave the hinge at a point with a good buttress root you can pretty much hold the tree in any direction.
  16. i think it probably had ustulina also. the tree next door to it that was previously felled certainly did
  17. they are round about the £55 mark i think. tree was dying back heavily, was basically at the end of its life.
  18. the new stein waterproof.....very nice jackets
  19. nice fun straight forward boshing job this morning:001_smile: [ame]http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ijajIUkMbBM[/ame]
  20. i havent climbed in the solomons, but do own a pair of scarpa. to be honest i havent climbed in them a great deal but i did opt for them during the summer when i had to re-reduce some very skinny whippy limes. they made the job so much easier just being able to get a foot grip in the tiniest little knobbles in the trunk. go to any of the isa climbing comps, and you'll be hard pushed to find someone not wearing a pair, i think that says a lot.
