  1. These sites that only take tiny amounts shouldn’t be on there. I have no way of checking all the sites and rely on people reporting sites like this so I can remove them
  2. Seen it a few times myself though not necessarily to the extent of the one in the photos which is why I wondered if it can also be some sort of canker
  3. Bit of Googling suggests it’s ulmus alata, or winged elm in English. can’t speak for everyone else on the forum but elm trees are a bit before my time so my ident on different varieties isn’t too hot! 4. I think it’s elm, not sure if it’s a specific variety that does this or some sort of bacterial canker.
  5. I sometimes wonder if they even get out their car
  6. Ignore that, just treated myself to a jointer
  7. Would one of these be able to do the job of a biscuit jointer? Einhell 4465160 VARRITO 18V Cordless Multi-Tool (Body Only) | Toolden WWW.TOOLDEN.CO.UK We are the UK's fastest growing Power Tool distributor. Supplying Power Tools, Hand Tools, Tool...
  8. What’s the need for wax on top of oil? I thought it was one or the other
  9. Thanks. The wood itself is going to be pretty dark anyway so I don’t think the actual colour the oil leaves is going to be an issue, more the finish it leaves.
  10. Been researching this online and there’s a million different ways. Looking for advice on the best process for finishing elm, ie what sandpaper’s to use, and the best oil, wax or lacquer to apply. This will be for a console table and a coffee table so will be reasonably well used. thanks
  11. Yeah well done, didn’t think about that
  12. Last time I had to make Simona a 2 level cake stand I stick the dowels into one piece, stuck a few dabs of paint on the other end of the dowel that placed it onto the other piece of wood to mark where I needed to drill the holes. very crude, but worked for me and meant I didn’t have to get a measuring tape out 😀
  13. I have a drill and a circular saw I just purchase today. The dowel option was what I was hoping would be strong enough. I can just about manage that. Recommendations on glue?
  14. As title, what’s the easiest way for a complete novice with minimal tools to join 2 boards together for a simple coffee table please
  15. I think it’s right, it’s just the fact that it’s not loaded correctly that it’s acting that way. Once on your harness it will behave completely different
  16. I’m not overly averse to them to be honest
  17. Well done! just be careful with that ISC pulley. Seem to recall someone recently saying never to buy their stuff somewhere or other… oh, just found it here
  18. Yeah there’s a couple nearby that I’ve used before. If I can find a design I like that’s the route I may well go
  19. I’m not much of a craftsman, but screwing some ready made legs onto a plank of wood that I have sanded down on the cheap, that I can manage. I agree some of them don’t look great though
  20. Not sure I’d risk Etsy
  21. Good shout. I did think about trying barking forge if I couldn’t find an off the shelf solution
  22. I have a nice elm plank I’d like to make into a console table. Anyone got a recommendation for a recent supplier that has a range of legs to choose from?
