Just looking at the 501 spec sheet and it mentions a plastic rotating chain catcher. Is this something that's disposable in that if you lose a chain off you have to replace it? It's not something that would put me off buying the saw but is it something you should have a spare of?

its held on by a hex bolt so dont think it will come off just get mangled after a few hits, this style of chain catcher is fairly new to me but id say they are more robust than the traditional ali ones, sthil have changed some of there saws to this style. that said no harm in a spare.
