Shute extension for 7.5 tonner

I've a st8 and thinking of extending the Shute so it chips better into a 7.5 tonner. Has anyone done this before ??

What chipper is it and how far?

 

Generally anything you are towing with "large goods" ought to be man enough but some weedy efforts just don't have the "oooomph" and the chip just blocks the thing up

 

Test it by jamming a length if drain tube over it, some wet leylandii will be the acid test

It's an st 8 so plenty distance it's the spread that I want to reduce, I head a lot of wood on so don't want to cover the back

Is the end of the spout distorted? our bandit had a bent spout end and sparyed all over the place like a botched Prince Albert, once straitened it fired to the back of our lorry fine

No, I have a hiab behind the cab of the lorry, so to keep it tipping I had to extend the tow bar. The bed is 12ft, so when the chips reach the body end there's quite a wide spray, meaning the chips bounce out. If I extend the length of the Shute would I get a better spray?

I'd imagine it would narrow the spray, that's what I'd want then you can just aim it about the corners and middle.

Cant you just put a lid on it?

Just try a 2 foot length of drainage pipe over the end and see if it makes a differents. Or just get a net to put over top over bed.

I do a lot of lifting timber on/off with the hiab so I'd need to fashion one that was retractable and had lift at the far end for the angle when you lift the bed. I thought a Shute extension would be easier.
