A friends brother has recently bought a 2wd Sprinter and has been disappointed with mpg, lack of power and Im sure he said it was on Adblue and it drinks the stuff! Reckons it could easily use a sixth gear.

I think your friends must be a Euro 6 engine. The latest merc engines are made by Iveco . The one I am looking at is euro 5 on a 15 plate. Rated to tow 3000 kg but not sure how well with 160 bhp and auto box

i have a 2010 2wd mwb sprinter with the 2.1l 130hp and from the onboard computer iam doing about 33mpg ish but about 25mpg when towing. the 130hp is a little slow when towing so ud defently want at least 160hp to tow 3ton. really well made van, the diffrence between the sprinter and a transit is massive in build quality, the sprinter is more of a german utility vehicle where a transit is just a big car and i drive both a transit and a sprinter nearly every day.

I have had a couple of vito's and a vw lt 35 and all have been a joy to own. I am thinking of selling our 6 year old vito and old Amazon and rolling into one vehicle a 4x4 sprinter duo liner.

Guy I know bought a mint low mile 2012 sprinter, not sure what engine. Paid another grand getting flashy graphics, the engine s**t the bed a week later. Another local guy bought a fairly new grafter and it broke his heart too. The Germans are capable of making crap like anyone else, they just charge more:001_tt2: as for the Iveco, I occasionally drive a fairly modern one (when its not in limp mode), don't like the way the steering column butts up against the pedals. That's just my two cents worth, no relevance to the latest Iveco but just thought i'd share my opinion.

Are the famous transits the best all rounder?

can't comment on the newest model but never had much trouble with the older ones other than rust which was as big a problem for the sprinters of the same age.

A friend of mine works for the electronic board and they use the merc 4x4 vans so I'll ask him for you

He did tell me the boys are happier with the Hilux cherry pickers over the defenders resonantly and was going to mention the merc 4x4 panel vans as I like the look of them

If there select 4WD they shouldn't be to far away from the normal vans
