Pfanner protos climbing helmet

Evening all, after recent eye surgery i am thinking of investing in the Pfanner Protos helmet with built in safety glasses, just for extra protection around the head and eye area, looking for advice and feedback on what you think of these helmets both good and not so good, will be using it for all sorts of Arb work, thanks in advance John.

I got one as my climbing lid as wear it both in the trees and in the forests.

A little hot, very comfy but gets smelly quick.

 

If your after another option the new kask or petzl lids and some glasses underneath are cheaper

Ive tried a protos on and it just didnt feel right for me.

Everyones aware of the eardefenders lacking in proper protection but it depends how it feels when its on your head.It seems to be a marmite kind of lid-folks either love it or hate it. Sorry i cant be more helpful mate

I love mine , the muffs aint as good as they should be , but the package suits me . I wore Petzl for years but much prefer the Protos .

Have you considered a Petzl with the Vizor? you can still fit a mesh visor with the vizor underneath.

I tried safety glasses myself but due to having very open pores (aka sweaty old sock ) couldn't get on with them, switched to a vizor/visor but got fed up eating saw chips, not being able to see if it was raining as the dust stuck to it and finally getting poked in the eye by a leylandii branch that came up under the vizor (bloody sore, still felt like there was something in my eye 3 days and a trip to A&E later) I added a mesh visor, quite like the combo.
