Not sure whether this is in the right topic so feel free to move it if necessary!

You've just joined a new company as the lead climber but not crew leader. The crew leader has a terrible work ethic and ultimately holds up jobs. You could speak to the boss but then you'll be a grass and nobody likes a grass, and there goes any chance of having a good working relationship with him.

The crew leader is ultimately the guy who calls the shots and you feel you haven't been there long enough to start throwing your weight around. However, as lead climber,if jobs aren't being completed, the finger is pointed!

How would you experienced members deal with this?

Frankly if the guy holds up a job he must be removed as fast as possible, forget the politeness and get this time waster out quick, his laziness can catch on to others. This is a terrible sickness can be compared to stomach bug, spreads like wildfire if you don't sort this out fast son !! Actually if I was you deal with it first thing in the morning, any delay could bring bad luck to the full team. This is heavy **** mate, but you did the right thing turning to the seniors. I'm always happy to help

Best regards

Stefan

.....when I were a lad, we started at 3 in the morning, after walking barefoot to the site in knee deep snow, for ten miles, then we made a fire to warm the wood for a bigger fire to warm our hands so we could hold the saw - crosscut mind! No chainsaws in my day - then wed work twelve hours before breakfast, which was usually a squirrel, eaten raw because no time to cook it....and that's if we were lucky!!

When I were a lad we 'ad to walk twenty mile, never had chance to mek a fire. All we 'ad to cut wi' was a blunt knife,'n' as fer brekka never et till we got 'ome 'n' 'ad our tea. When I got 'ome I'd take a lump o' ice out me breeks & melt it by t'fire. When it thawed aht it went pharrrrrp, god did it stink 'n' all.
