Hedge trimmer recomendations

Time has come to replace my old mculloch trimmer, doesn't need to be super heavy duty as its mainly going to be cutting back ivy and conifers at home and the odd small hedge for relatives. What would you guys recomend?

I have both long reach ( double sided) and single sided Husqvarna hedge cutters ( as opposed to trimmers , wider gap between teeth ) . They are fast cutting . ( the short one sounds like a saw it revs that fast ) and I am happy with them . I have however heard very good things about the Echo range . Check em out .

Id recommend the echo range they're extremely reliable parts are easy to get hold of and you can have a choice of single blade double or long arm. they seem to vibrate the less than the big 2

In truth i had been eyeing up the echo trimmers, i'll try and find a local dealer (midlands) to have a closer look

we have echo hedgecutters at work with the collector blade on top of the blade which ithought was a bit of a gimmick but it works really well they are well made at a good price

In all honest opinions are the long reach echo gonna be better than the stihl?? I keep considering trying them but find myself sticking to stihl

used stilh for years found single sided cutters went blunt quickly then went to shindawa which was brilliant best cutter I,ve used in 30 years it was knicked last along with all our 2 stroke kit anyway it got replaced with echo which took over shindawa and they are good

Take a look at Dolmar, used to be the old fuji robins, now rebranded. Thats where my money would go, no questions.

We have a Tanaka for work around the place. Sits on the shelf for months and just works when required.

I have the older Echo HCA long reach hedge cutter, great machine and the heavy duty head is brilliant for taking back hedges that haven't been cut for a few years. I also have a Tanaka TBC multi tool which is ultra reliable and light, It looks quite flimsy and has never been serviced so I always expect it to pack up but it just keeps going.
