I'm ready for a new saw, what are people preferring at the moment?

Which do people think is better husqvarna T540XP or stihl ms201?

Opinions on both saws welcome.

Thanks.

Both saws,if its stock version i really wouldnt bother.

The 201 with the upgrade kit would outperform the 540 but the 540-in my experience-will give more longevity. The standard bar on the 540 is crap so you could look at getting a sugihara bar from Rob on this forum.

Some peoples opinions on this will differ in this subject so expect some squabbling and differing opinions.

Personally id say get a 200T and invest in a rebuild, they really are king of the toppers.

On a side note echo are releasing a new topper in a couple of months too replace the 2510-maybe hang on till it comes out,if its as good as the 2510 it'll be a wee cracker

+1 with regard to MS200t and proper rebuild.

Tried Husq Echo Makita and altenative Stihl offerings.

Still come back to using mint 200s as they put a smile on my face.

Thankyou.

They put a grin on my face evey time I use them.

The one with the sugi bar has been my 'daily drive' since January, and has not missed a beat once.

Whenever someone on site fires up a 540 or 201 I laugh mockingly at their ridiculous sound.

(I really should grow up.)

Would never buy a t540xp again after the endless broken parts on mine. I actually rate it performance wise it's just a shame it's made of cheese

Mostly cheese, but not all.

I don't know what the bar is made of, but it is significantly more bendy than the most bendy of cheese.
