I've got a Navara, had it since new. 10 years now. Not one problem. I've got a three year old hilux and the Navara is so much better imo. The wife had a L200 new 5 years ago. Now sold as its ride is wallowy and bouncy. The Nav is sure footed. Horses for courses but tge Navara is simply the better vehicle.

Give them another 5-10 years and they will probably be the market leaders.

The Chinese will sink money into it until they get it right I think

It doesn't matter if they're the best pick up ever in 5-10 years time (I'm guessing they won't even be close), it's how good they are now that matters and when it comes to re-sale value it's the buyers perception that dictates whether they're actually worth anything regardless of how good/bad they are.

I'm curious, what is it about the Navarra that makes it better than the Hilux?

I had shortlisted the Navarra, Hilux and Ranger but in the end decided that if/when I buy I'd go for the Hilux. You have/had both so I'd appreciate your comparison, maybe it comes down to intended use or rather what the main use is? To simply say something is better without expanding on what makes it better doesn't really help.

I'd be looking at the used market anyway due to funds. The 2016 is much improved from the first ones that arrived. 6 year/125000 mile warranty which beats the rivals. Towing capacity up to 2500 from 2t. I know it's lower than other trucks but this won't be hard working.

Better interior design, better quality plastics used.

I'm not writing off the others at all but I'm struggling to find a mainstream rival that will give me the specs and mileage for the price. This will be a purchase in a year or so anyway

Maybe they will still be rubbish maybe brilliant.

Resale is the wrong way to look at it IMO. I want the decent truck firstly.

And I doubt I'd buy a steed because I like the navara and I'll buy another when I get rid of this one.

I do think they will get them right in the end though

I was gas bagging to a lad that was driving one , his company bought five of them and by all accounts they seem ok. Good on fuel and seem to be reliable, not sure how you would get on come chopping in time but I suppose if they last until then you would have saved the difference.
