Hi all, I'm starting college this September to study forestry and I'm yet to buy my PPE. Looking for advice on which are the best for a range of tasks I'd be doing. At the minute it looks as though I'd be getting the stihl advance X-flex trousers but I arnt really sure, Any advice on gloves, trousers, helmets etc. Is valued.

Thanks:)

Firstly, welcome to Arbtalk.Use the Search button in the Banner heading and have a read of the threads already in existence. When you've been through them, go to your nearest Arb supplier and try them all on because we are all different sizes and what fits somebody else might not fit you. :001_smile:

Didn't really mean about fits mate, more like which types you all find most durable/ easiest to move around in/ best value for money but thanks anyway pal

These, Oregon Yukon

Light (due in part to a lack of fancy features), cheap (for the aforementioned reason) comfortable (due to not being cut for the catwalk), durable as there's not much to go wrong, plus at less than a third of the cost of some other trousers you can get a pair soaked today and have a dry pair tomorrow.

I have Stein Kreiger Arborist Type C and I'll freely admit when I decided on something cheaper for ground work and bought the Yukon's I thought they looked a bit naff, after a day's work they look much the same as any other trousers that have been worked in.

Its difficult to recommend certain brands or styles as PPE,believe it or not,is a very personal thing. Some might love a certain brand or style of trousers others may hate them because of the fit or style.

Best advice is to try on as many types as you can, trousers, gloves, helmets and boots and see what you feel comfortable in.

My recomendation is to find whats comfortable and doesnt cook your nuts, catch man glitter rub against your thights etc etc etc.

You'll be wearing these items all day in varying weather conditions so make wise choices.

Welcome to arbtalk and good luck mate stay safe
