10 Bears, You are correct. I also forgot to mention the flesh eating bacteria existing in the waters where the boating competitions will be taking place!.

At least the American Basketball team has it all sorted out by having all of its players living on a cruse ships off shore until their games are to be played!.

I am sure the players will not be bitten by any Zika carrying mosquitoes once on land!.

London was a better Olympics. Reality can be depressing or enlighting. How one deals with the facts depends on their point of view. Many athletes train for their entire lives for a single shot at the chance of a life time. Just not worth becoming sick and spreading a virus for money, greed or politics IMHO.

How was London a better olympics? Rio has only just started!

Was there a murder just outside the Olympic village on the opening day of the London Olympics?. Was the International Olympic committee struggling with weather or not to cancel an international sporting event due to a pandemic on it's doorstep. How about the extronary measures some countries are taking to attempt to protect their team members from something that really can not be controlled by the hosting country much less any other country participating in this sporting event?. Yes the London games were much better for many good reasons. So far I have not found one reason why the current games in Brazil should have ever started, much less how the country could afford to host the games with all the other current problems known and otherwise.

I meant the opening ceremony sorry.

As Mark said there isnt a lot they can do about the Zika virus apart from maybe stop the games which I doubt the athletes want least of all.

The last time the Olympics were canceled was during WW II. If medical science honestly knew in advance 1/2 of what is presently known about this virus and how it is presently being transmitted would common sense prevail and have the games canceled for health reasons to keep the spread from blanketing the balance of the world weather it be through sexual contact or blood transfusion or mother to child?. Since this virus continues to mutate and with so many different new host willing to carry the virus to the four corners of the planet it's only a matter of time for the governments of the world to continue to be reactive in stead of proactive.

If the athletes are really that selfish and stupid than they already know the consequences for their actions or inactions going forward. It's a shame the balance of the planet could very well also suffer the same consequences as well.
