Did you see somewhere that they actually packed them with explosives? I think Mossad probably did something cleverer than that, and just harnessed the latent energy within the pagers. By using some kind of IT trickery, Malware or something, to cause the pager batteries to overheat and then explode. That's how I read it anyway.
Hard to believe that they'd be able to obtain 1200 of them, to insert the explosive, without Hezbollah noticing.

Crikey! That's some job. 

 

The armchair generals I've read seem to think it is a few grams of explosives, not just self-destructing pagers. 

 

But distributing 1200 of them (that number could continue to rise, the news was dozens at first, then hundreds, now 1200)... that’s just cartoon-style levels of whatever the hell this is.

 

Looking forward to seeing how this develops!
