Looking to buy some land.

Hi guys,

 

Been on the lookout for a few acres of land in South Devon for around 18 months. Fed up of giving wood away because I have no where to store it. Ideally I would have enough space to keep some livestock too. I have a decent budget, but not really sure where else to look. I have tried approaching landowners directly, but everyone seems reluctant to let go of their land. Any ideas where to look? Anyone got any land in South Devon they are looking to sell? Or know anyone that does?

Next auction is quite soon but may be worth getting on the mailing list, they come round every 6-12months or so. Been some cracking little plots in the past, nothing quite close enough for me yet though!!

Just out of interest, whats the going rate per acre in devon, here in Bedfordshire small plots of non building land ( under 10 acres) are fetching £30,000 an acre.

South Hams. Have seen some go for £40k + per acre. But that's level pony paddocks.

The small bits of land normally go for stupid money,near me ag land is about ten thousand an acre a small wet meadow near a friend of ours about three acres is up for a guide of sixty grand crazy.

Land sells for what the buyer is prepared to pay for it, good plots normally change hands by word of mouth, if a plot makes it to auction there's too meany people bidding on it etc

 

Iv got a nice plot in nice area and get about 6 letters a year tro the post box offering to buy it some very strong offers too

 

if you find a plot and you want it get the deal done there n then to avoid disappointment

I have being looking for 3 years now, most stuff has planning or outline and goes for crazy money, plenty for sale around here if you want to buy a piece of somebodys garden to build on!

i got offered some the other day before it hit the market silly money though ok it was in the middle of a village 40k for 0.5 acres
