Got the saw into some trees today, filter and plug have made a little difference and after running it through some 15" wood flat out to reset seems a little better.

 

Still a little boggy at times, when I was in the dealer he said about plugging it in for a reset and some updates?!? I thought it was a saw not an iPhone 😜

The autotune has firmware updates and various parameters can be set back to factory default. There are checks for throttle sensors, carb temperature and carb solenoids that can be done as well.

 

It is progress but needs time to become a reliable technology as it is in most modern cars. Those manufacturers that don't use such technology, will have to do so before much longer....that's the way it is!

I still prefer an auto tune to old school saw as my carb adjustment knowledge is pretty bad.

 

Guess in a few years when it's all electric then it will be dialled.

Yes, however all auto tune carbs come with no software so will have to be programed by a dealer, you cannot do it yourself.

My misses saw definitely has a bit more poke to it , just a quickie for aspen fans this is a very new piston about 14 tanks of aspen , looks a lot of carbon build up to me.

Looks like a saw with severe fueling issues ie running rich , carbs have been updated a few times due to problems .

Forgot to ask , have you tested for air leaks ? is the saw burning chain oil ! markings on the piston would suggest chain oil

That is quite possible , the crank gasket was leaking chain oil under the exhaust and the front end of the saw when it was taken apart we noticed ,I tightened all the case bolts when I did the last rebuild and it does not appear to be leaking any more, I've not used it but the misses did 4 litres yesterday cross cutting and recons its fine.

I have had quite a few in with chain oil leaking into crankcase 550 and 560 , chain oil will leave the tell tale swirl mark on the piston crown .
