Never seen this one before

I found this on a veteran Oak that has sustained machine damage as well as being topped.

 

There are about 5 brackets up to about two meters above a decaying wound.The fungus has grown out if the living cambium

 

I have no idea what fungus it is

Yep, as both Paul, Matty and OakStag have already confirmed.

 

Surprised you've not come across it before Mike, particularly when you were working in the UK back in the day.

Thank you all for your replies.

 

David.I do not remember seeing it on any Trees in the UK,I wasn't interested in Fungus then.

 

I will cook it up just now,I vaguely remember it being edible. The Client is worried the Tree might come down in a Storm,it has a very limited Root area and stands just a few feet from the House.
