Wood Id Required

Has anyone any suggestions on this wood. It turned well and has what can only be described as coal in the inclusions, I think it is a slice of a burl but have no idea as it came in a job lot and was very dry so been around a while. Looks very nice and would like to put a species to it?

I have seen Elm heart wood go like that . Not saying it is but maybe ........

i can't give you an exact species as the family is soooo huge but i can tell you that it is from the eucalyptus genus.

 

it's most likely a jarrah or coolibah burl and the resin veins you describe as coal are fairly common.

Here's a pic of what I think is the same wood. I was told by a reliable source in Australia that this is gimlet burr (eucalyptus salubris). The black "coal" is resin deposits. I still have a few pieces of this in my wood store waiting for me to turn them!
