Couriers are a disgrace!

DPD = reliable

UKMail = ridiculous

What grieves me, is having bought something online, the contract of sale is between me and the vendor and yet when deliveries fail, I have to liaise with the courier. I have no contract with the courier.

My purchase price includes delivery which is sub contracted by the vendor to the courier.

Poor 3PL courier reflects badly on the contracting ability of the vendor.

I will usually ask which courier is used and cancel anything expected to be delivered by UKMail.

A vendors reputation can be destroyed (or enhanced) by the 3PL contractor within the final mile of the delivery system.

Reputable retailers that engage shoddy delivery contractors are doing them self no favours!

Our local Hermes driver is known to us, he used to run a shop, he actually appears to enjoy his job, AND knows his rural del area very very well.

Ditto the DPD guy, Polish I imagine, dels to both my work address and our home, hes been on this run for a few years now.

Another outfit tried, on more than one occassion to leave various deliveries, which were for near neighbours, with us, I oblidged the first time, but politely declined the second, and less politely, the third time. I have not seen them about recently.

Local postie is also a long serving guy.

2 out of 3 of the above, will sign for deliveries, and leave parcels in through the front door, or round the back if it is raining.

Senior Managment keeps them sweet with homemade jam, which seems to work.

Bytimes tis good to be part of a settled rural community.
