yea, most holes I seem to dig seem to be on a bed of hardcore... I aught really invest in a hydraulic jack as much as anything else... Ordinarily I take a post hole digger, a trenching spade a long iron bar and a swear box....

Whichever brand you choose, make sure they are the sort you push inwards to close rather than pulling out as they are much easier to use. :001_smile:

Yes that's right Fenland They are big capacity, not suited to really narrow holes, but then I'd use an auger.

 

And yes gnfencer drivall been gone a year, for some reason they can't shut the website down and the phone number is still live to another company that's fed up of the calls.

Little update on this for anyone interested, I'm very impressed with my Faithful All Steel Post Hole Diggers! they seem strong and well built and are heavy enough to use without loosening up the ground first yet are light enough to use all day. I would definitely recommend them.
