Simple - Till VOSA pull you over and ask you what justification you had for registering a HGV as agricultural.

I'm not going to labour this point, but you can register anything you like as ag - but it does'nt make it legal.

There have been quite a few tree surgeon's caught out badly, even with unimogs. If your caught hauling a load of any description, you will be in for a very nasty shock.

I know that some people think its OK and legal, and some feel that they can fly under the rader. Thats fine, It's not my place to criticise, and its not my intention.

I just want to point out the negative side of this argument, as warning to anybody who thinks its perfectly legal.

Funnily enough I was talking to a competitor of mine, he got raided on a bank holiday Monday by the ministry.

He has a one of those Renault or dodge 4x4 jobs (like a big tranny) which is registered as special vehicle and a Bedford MJ or MK Crane wagon. All on red.

They called his pickup a "unimog":confused1:

Any way they told him every thing had to be on white, EXCEPT the Crane wagon. Which if fine on red.

i am only going by what i was told and what i did. when i got my mog it was on special vehicles tax. i sent away the log book, it came back ag, then down to the post office, the old deer wasnt to sure and never heard of a unimog, she hummed and hawed a bit then gave me the tax. i even spoke to the head traffic cop for our area. he said its a tractor simples. i never carried anything for hire or reward. all the chip got tipped for nothing and all the logs were given away. i even got a visit from environmental health one day on site about a report we were fly tipping, (we had thrown an old magpie nest into some bushes) he looke at the mog, i asked if i needed a waste liscence, he didnt know. he called me back the next day and said no. if i was told differently at any of these times i would of done what they had said
