Threaded Brass Insert?

I am going to make a few Hobo fishing reels on the lathe but can anyone suggest where I can get a suitable brass insert to allow storage in the reel and handle. I cant be cutting threads in the wood itself, and need a reasonable sized center hole to allow storage of weights, lures hooks etc.

What maximum diameter were you thinking of?Could you adapt a compression joint end cap to suit?

Its more the ID of the female as this is were all the bits will be put, if its too small there will be no access for storage, I guess an 25mm dia hole would be about right as the overall diameter is 2" (50mm)

The picture I posted was from the Toolstation catalogue.Nip into Great Yarmouth & ask them to have a look at the parts. They do a 1" brass socket & flanged plug.Or have a look at the 28mm compression stop end.Catalogue 63 pages 88/89.:thumbup1:

Just had another look, the brass flanged backnut might look better aesthetically with the flanged plug.

In fact I might incorporate those in a walking stick I'm making.
