eye to eye v.t cord

Ive climbed once with a prussik in the last month and have struggled ,if you get the knack of the vt you wont wanna use any thing else,maybe a climbing session with somebody who all ready uses it will get your confidence up to trust it fully.

i find the vt has alot of sitback and isnt great when making small adjustments. i wouldnt buy several types maybe 3.

not trying to hijack this thread, but there is a way to turn the current split tail set up you are currently using into a self tending system. The details are here:

This system will work with every hitch knot, from Taut Line to VT, as long as you use it in a split tail configuration.

I have never used a VT but want to ry one, I have a lockjack sport which I presume is the equivelent.

 

Is this what I need for a vt and what length.

I have tied one before but used prussick rope and found it too bulky with two double fishermans knots etc.

Thats a bit short for a VT, and I wouldnt bother with tenex. If you are using 8mm cord, the knots shouldnt bother you. I suggest you buy some different 8mm cords, play around with them until you find one you like, and then if you still want spliced eyes get one made up in the right length and cord.

What's the problem with Tenex Peter? I have heard a few people saying this but can't see the problem with it.

Gets very hot, burns the climbing line and your fingers, and it just doesnt perform as well as other, cheaper alternatives.
