Hi I've a 2 month old 550 and finding it crap to start and it doesn't like idling, is there any ways of improving this and correcting this with the auto tune? Does aspen really make that much difference with husqies as I'm wondering if this will help with the issue as the only way it starts simply at the moment is to hold it by the throttle one handed and manage the revs as I pull the starter and it's irritating to say the least?

My 545 which is near enough the same saw, has from new, been run on Aspen. Not had problems with the Aspen. However, as of late, it's been displaying the same symptoms as yours. Reckon it's the saw, not the fuel. If yours has problems already, changing to Aspen may not help.

Silly question I know but how do you start it

Put on ground choke on pull cord wait for it to kick over turn off choke and pull cord again to start, it's not reliable in starting or ticking over once started so it turns into a 20 minute ordeal if you try and start it as you would normally with a saw working correctly and I don't have patience for that.

try a new plud in it,then cut a big log so its on full revs , think thats the way could be wrong

yer just set up my new 540 big log put the saw on full revs and cut for 3 to 5 minets you will know when its long enough because the engine sound will change

Once it tries to fire disengage the choke by pushing the choke all the way down. Then pull again. Don't you the decompression button you don't need it. Run Ls oil in there. The older style oil doesn't suit the engine. Then as said find something that you have the full bar buried and run it flat out for the entire tank. That should sort it out.

Given that the saw is still under warranty i would have your dealer plug it in and check the codes , could be the Autotune unit about to fail , or there could be an air leak and the Autotune has done all it can to compensate .

thankyou yes I will send back to dealer to check as it has been used enough that it should be running right on the autotune, ill try it on aspen this week as I cant do without it this week but it is irritating as hell and looks unprofessional spending 15-20 mins trying to start a saw every time you want to use it again on a job.
