Surprise when quoting.

Got a call last night from a very nice English lady asking could she have a quote for stump grinding. I said that as today was a day off and I was going to take the House Jock for a meal then I would pop in on the way. Gets to the lady's house, she came out to greet us, invited us to have a brew. This is my husband, she says, out of the kitchen comes Gregor Fisher, aka Rab C Nesbitt. I knew he had bought a house somewhere round here, but didn't know where exactly. I did the spiel to his wife whilst the two Jocks jabbered away quite happily.

I return on Tuesday.

I'm not normally swayed by popular culture being so long away from U.K T.V However, I do get to meet some real 'Boy's Own' heros from time to time.

Up near Dinan I worked for a former Spitfire pilot who at every opportunity filled my head with tales 'derring do' sounding like a feature in 'Warlord' comic.

Across in the Eure near Chateau St Georges Motel, I did some cable bracing on a foul day for a chap who flew Hawker Tempests over Europe then when hostilities looked like coming to an end volounteered as a glider pilot in East Asia.
