I find it fascinating what the differences are in ropes. Its weird to me that the kern master performs better than some softer 12 mm lines sen. KM3 is another 11 rope that runs very well. the Km max even better. have not found any HTP to be optimal. like you said, I can get them to work, but not optimal. Escalator also runs very nicely

Even though I have spent most of my 47 year climbing career on DdRT, I now find it so annoying and slow, I only use it occasionally. The simple task of taking up slack becomes slow and cumbersome. DdRT is great for a toss and advance climb or crane work due to easy rope retrieval. But even choking a stem on removals is easier with SRT.

So I'm having a hard time understanding Steve's apparent total lack of enjoyment in it's use.

I agree Dave and I think that Steve may have expected too much too soon. It's not like going from a square wheel to round wheels.

It takes time to adapt your brain and possibly more difficult, adapt the muscle memory to a new sequence of events.

So much 'raving' is done online about the Holy Grail that is SRT but it is not that brilliant. It is just simply a better way of doing the same thing, in most cases.

So Steve, just give it some time and stay off this thread for two months.

Think about a more upright body position ALL of the time.

Put in redirects even when you think it may not be necessary because it will give you confidence and teach you what system may work best for you.

Most of all, don't over think it.

Body position is fine. I have no problem keeping an upright position, nor do I have any problems with redirects. Its all pretty straight forward after a few climbs.

So where does the problem lie because the only other suggestions I can make are:

Lots of shouting.

A bigger saw.

Why is it hard to accept that some people simply aren't going to like SRT? I mean it makes sense to me for certain jobs, but if you can get a job done ddrt and are happy with it then fair enough!

Why is it hard to accept that some people simply aren't going to like SRT?....

I find it hard to comprehend because what we do is hard work and SRT makes that work easier in most situations. Really is that simple.

I can accept it, just can't wrap my head around it! lol thats okay. Keep at it Steve. Get your ascent down and look for those redirects to do tree to tree transfers and out onto the tipy tips. think in terms of like 6 or 7 redirects during a climb as opposed to 1 or 2. Don't think about transferring TIPs but in terms of just using all of them at once. just climb through your next tip or pass your rope through and keep on going.
