You must have used some really bad machines, properly set u with sharp knives and sliver breakers they make perfect chips.

Brash can come out a bit stringy, but that's true of any bigger chippers.

The Farmi I just sold had won the customer a massive contract for boiler fuel, it was the only machine that could produce the chip required. I have also heard the main reason for poor chip quality is not being set up correctly.ImageUploadedByArbtalk1457044247.255951.jpg.70d53518fe9ea24285e0ad7dd836d8d9.jpg

Haven't tried that yet I'll report back, what I do like is the amount of options available that we couldn't currently offer. They have different pans for mechanical feed, crane feed etc, conveyor feed, different discharge chutes, twig breakers, sliver breakers, 2 & 3 knife discs & all the knives are adjustable for chip size, radio remote. Our current pto chippers chip brilliantly but there were no options apart from the capacity.ImageUploadedByArbtalk1457074845.531555.jpg.2c6f17beeca62370433965809a66814e.jpg

As long as they are set up well and kept sharp they will take greenery as well as any other chipper, the only thing I found it didn't get on well with was long stringy willow that could ball up behind the rolers and require a bigger bit of timber to push it in.

I've used them as both hand feed on a mog and crane feed on a valtra but not set up as fancy as the one above, very nice!

It is the CH381HFC which basically means it has the conveyor feed which is optional, the opening is 381x420. The chipper has its own hydraulic system meaning the tractor hydraulics are only used for the discharge and folding for transport. It's classed as a 15" capacity, it was fitted on a 400hp Fendt which at tick over in 540rpm will munch 12" logs with no autofeed. It's a big lump at just over 2 tonnes with the chip disc being just under 1.5 MTE diameter.
