Interesting. Ive only done one new build lately(last 7 years) and never tested it. Don't use council building inspectors either as their jokers who know nothing about building. Can't wait Till I can afford to build my own place and I won't have any of these idiot rule makers involved.

How can you air pressure test a house with compulsory holes in? Expect people to seal their houses and only need ventilation through trickle vents and expect not to have a mouldy house.

These people have no clue.

The passive house initiative has it right seal the house completely and control the ventilation properly.

Got a large open plan living room/kitchen. Wood burner one end and extractor at the other. Had a stove with a closed combustion ie it draws it's air from the outside. It all seems a pain but I can see why the rules have come in. Probably makes no sense in an old farmhouse that leaks like a sieve but modern airtight homes are a different kettle of fish.
