New England tachyon

I'm looking to get a new rope and am thinking about the New England tachyon. I currently climb on a yale hedera 11.7 with zigzag. The ropes prob not past its sell by date but has had some use; there's a little bulge/kink and there's a few nicks here and there. The main problem I find is that on a long ascent there seems to be so much stretch and bounce it just makes things hard. The tachyon is half a ton stronger so am thinking maybe has a little less stretch, and is 11.5mm so would fit through the zigzag nicely and self tend well. Does anyone else climb with this setup (tachyon 11.5 and zigzag)? Is it any good? Thanks, Matt

I have worked with climbers who really like tachyon with the ZigZag and really like it....not my preference though

Ok, that's interesting. I know you're a blue tongue man, but blue tongue and hedera are the same rope just different colours so I've found out. Otherwise I would've tried blue tongue!!

I do like New England ropes... I use a wire core from them

I use this combination, and personally I think it's great. I used Marlow Aeris previously and really liked that, only changed when I caught it with the saw.....

Not too much bounce with Tachyon, and as mentioned, good self tending although you need about 10m hanging below for it to work well.

Ive been using tachyon 11.5 mil with zigzag works great.

The tachyon i use is the flexicore stuff,ive no idea if thats relevant but just thought id add it in there.

Ive had the zigzag creep a little when the rope is really soaked and slimey,but not go the extent that ive ever been overly concerned.

Been climbing in this setup and also the fly. Both great ropes but find the tachyon does self tend slightly better.
