tree climbing? or not?

Am the organizing secretary of "The Adventurers" environmental club in our estate. We are planning on going on a trip. Among the activities we have listed to undertake are camping and holding tree climbing competitions.However, the latter aroused mixed reactions from the members.

Has anyone tried this before? We need your advise please.

Discuss it with your insurer I would have thought. I suppose if the members (kids?) Have the benefit of a fall arrest system and competent minder there wouldnt be too much to object to.
