We cut some oak in the winter but haven't extracted it yet , we are on an estate between Salisbury and Blandford ,might be too far for you ? If you are interested send me a text on 07867 971 473 and I will put you in touch with the estate forester you can discuss it with him. We were thinking of extracting it soon now the ground has dried up a bit. Nick

Its slightly further than ideal. Let me see what else comes up over next few days and I will get back to you.

Very impressive indeed.

 

Stands of good Oak in Scotland are as much by accident as hard work. I've seen instances where everything has been done right, but by virtue of the ground and weather conditions, the trees are awful.

 

Surprised you say that, the Border country has/had outstanding oak, same in parts of the west coast.

Some of the big Scottish mills started off as hardwood mills. Jones were one of the biggest keel oak millers in the country.
