Looking for advice on a medium saw

Hi everyone ! Im new on forum and same think which chainsaw should buy !The trees I am taking down are around 16" -19" in diameter. I want a saw that can be used next year and those that follow for a long time and thus it should be budget. Is it possible? I want something that will get through the wood reliably, smoothly, and quickly. I'm thinking a saw with a 18" bar, or should I be thing 20"? After this reviewschoose between Husqvarna 455 and chiper Poulan Pro

Is it possible ? No. To go through 19" in one cut you need to pull a 20" bar so 60cc or up, bear in mind the dogs take an inch or so. if youve got any sizeable quantity of trees to feel & limb up then an Echo 620sx or a Husqvarna 365xp will do, otherwise a 50cc Dolmar or Echo 501 if you cant strecth to the 620sx. Whatever you get run it on Aspen & dont forget your PPE.

 

I daresay someone will be along to rubbish that and say you must have a Husqvarna 560/550 because nothing else comes close & its a few ounces lighter and better balanced but there are plenty of other 'best chainsaw' threads to get more info if you search.

If you can t stretch as far as a echo 620. Check out eBay search for a shindaiwa 667. Contact seller direct you ll get a better deal. They are new old stock(mines a 2009 saw). I got one think I paid £325 inc vat maybe a little more. It's been fantastic and a true bargain. Quality bar and chain and overall very good performance. It's a pleasure to use. Shindaiwa and echo are connected and models have either name on them but think they are pushing the echo brand more in the uk.

I have a 560xp which would be perfect except it doesn't like being shelved for more than a few weeks. if you want reliability over a long time period then i'd suggest a older stihl 028 or 038av, kind of saw you can sling into the back of the shed for a year, then fill it up and away you go!

I saw the 667 on eBay it looks a nice saw what does it run like have you got any photos :thumbup:

Not a great photo but all I got. It a great saw. It runs a 20 inch bar fine. I was cutting 30" diameter wind blown beech on weds and it's great. One of my best buys ever.
