VW grafter

We need another 3.5 tonner.

I know the 3.5 ton question is asked lots but I can't remember any mention of the VW grafter. Any one used one in arb?

I have had transits and just don't feel they are truck enough..

We have an izusu which is good but parts expensive and we have had issues getting simple bits when they break. Also not much choice on used market. I imagine similar things with Mitzy and Nissan?

Sprinters look OK but expensive.

Iveco, we really like our 6 tonner, but spent a fortune on our (low milage) 3.5 tonner..

We have a LR130 - and that does what it needs to but one is enough.

Don't like LDV's, or anything french..

We have 10 inch chippers so needs to tow 2.2 tons...

I know you don't like the French trucks but I've had 20000 very comfortable and trouble free miles out of my Citroen Relay in the last year. Like it so much that I ordered a new one with all the options ticked (well everything apart from automatic climate, or near enough). On a long wheelbase van it was £18k plus VAT. They do tippers and you see a lot of them (or rather the Fiat version) in Germany.

Maybe I should rethink.. the French thing... To be honest I have no experience of the trucks but never very impressed with the cars..

I ran a relay tipper fir nearly 5 yrs, was v good to be fair, had the odd problem here and there but on the whole was a good truck, sold it and got a Renault master tipper, are they the best? Probably not but there not as bad as people make out.

If you're google for it it's actually called a crafter. Used to drive the LT35 which was the old name (and was just the old sprinter with a different engine again) and it was great, still not particularly truck like but in a way like it won't shake all the bones out of my body.
