In the army we had to stop putting wheels on the bonnet as when off road the weight of the wheel would bend or flex the bonnet into the injector lines. Squaddies can break anything!

The bonnets on Td5s and Tdci are lighter weigh than the earlier ones also you would need the solid bonnet stay and declare it to insurance e I bet too ! There have been cases where wheel has been punched through the windscreen and injuring the occupants sometimes quite badly ie death still wouldn't stop me putting it on bonnet but I think that may have been the reason they were removed as factory fitted
