Which blower for milling

Thanks. To clear things up, I will mostly need it to clear sawdust off the grass at the end of the day. Not blowing out a machine. I use a lucas mill and only clean it with compressed air in the workshop. But lucas mills do make a lot of sawdust.

Advice welcome.

I also use a lucas as contract milling service. Too right - loads of sawdust especially when doing small dimension work. BUT the sawdust is, like the timber and offcuts, my clients property, its his or her issue to move it anywhere. But before I pack down the mill I blow out the airways ,frame nooks and crannies, and also the air filter . - thats the clients sawdust too!

Oh and yes I use the aforementioned ryobi - at least it don't blow the guts out of my air filter!!!

Yes normally sawdust Is the clients problem and this is stated at quote stage.

I build barns and sheds where i get logs delivered to site. Mill on site and as it's a complete contract i like to leave it tidy. The last one was on a recreation ground so tidiness was imperative.

I also buy and mill trees in people's back garden or on my own land and i also like to clean up I'm this situation too.

Whilst a backpack is the obvious choice for power its going to be a pain to fit in the truck.

The Tanaka TRB24EAP has amazed me, sure, its the cheaper offering from Tanaka, aimed more at the domestic market, but it is compact and has the most incredible blowing power of any hand held blower I have ever tried.

Even the so called 'domestic' machines from Tanaka are as good, or better, than many other brands. Worth a look?

Interesting. Never considered tanka before. It's a similar price point to the echo, do you think it's the better option?

Do you offer full spares support for it.

Thanks

We've used one of these (though it didn't come from screwfix) for nearly 5 years and it's never needed anything doing to it than check the oil (never used any) and fill with fuel.

Find it works best with the flat nozzle for chasing sawdust about.

If I am honest the Tanaka is probably no better than the Echo in quality, most Japanese stuff is excellent and will be far superior to European built kit.

The Tanaka does however blow particularly well, and spares are readily available and cheap, although seldom required.

But, to be honest, the reliability of any machine is only as good as the dealer who supports it, so its far better IMO to buy a quality brand from a quality local dealer. Don't worry too much about which brand, unless of course you live in East Devon where it has to be Tanaka!
