Makita dcs7900 vs ea7900..?

Alreet! I'm on the hunt for a makita 7900 after having used one and it being an animal..

The one I used was a dcs7900 I'm pretty sure, as it was fairly old.

How ever, I've found this sweet deal: Lawson HIS: Makita EA7900P45E Petrol Chainsaw 45cm (18") 78.5cc (Replaces DCS7901) + FREE OIL

But it looks like the model is slightly different (ea instead of dcs) and the specs show it to be down on the old model by .5 of a bhp...

Information is fairly limited, so I was wondering if anyone on here may be able to shed some light?

Thanks :)

If they had been selling that saw, at that price back in June - id have snapped it up, instead of my buying my 6401.... for £10 less :cursing:

Alreet, Managed to get the guts out of the muffler and get it all back together, and back on! I want to adjust the carb, but cant even see which type of tool I need to do it.... does anyone know where I can get hold of one?

Your saw has "likely" got limiter cap/caps over the L &H jet screws depending on its age. The red one is the H and the white..if there ..is one is the L jet. A flat small screwdriver is the tool and as long as you can retune within the range of movement you won't need to pull the limiter caps.

I did a repair and light port on a DCS7901 recently. The saw had fast pickup but never got the time to use it but the build looked pretty good to me. The circlip tang had come off and caused a bit of naughtiness in the cylinder but was able to repair it as one does.

The low screw on this saw was adjustable but the H screw was blanked by a plug in the side recoil cover. I just tached the saw, removed the cover, gave the H screw a wiggle and returned the cover and got it to around 13000rpm. I think the max is 13500 and the coil is limited so watch out for that!

Haven't got any feedback on the saw yet!
