I think that would be the biggest set of Daedaleopsis confragosa ever.

 

Obviously a difficult example to Id from distance but I wonder if it's possibly a very persistent chicken.

 

The pores look very small and un-maze like for either D. confragosa or D. quercina

 

How big would you say these were?

Erm, maybe 20cm across (including all bracket parts you can see next to one another in the image). My colleague thought it was D. confrgosa as well. Will take binoculars back and look on Monday to check. Laeti hadn't crossed my mind as it just didn't come across as being one, but you may be right actually.

Private tree. I tried knocking on their door but there was no answer. Binoculars it shall be. As the tree isn't TPO'd, I also don't want to make the owners feel inappropriately afraid of their tree and then fell it or something.

 

 

Fair enough. I'd love to be able to just knock a door and climb their tree for fun!
