Blacksmiths Stake tool. They are more typical as a 'stake anvil' - a small anvil normally with a specific purpose that can be driven into a log. Lots of different types for amour making and thin plate metal beating.

 

This one looks more like a cut off tool - a 'stake cut-off' if you like.

Thanks for all the ideas. Been looking at various anvil tools online and it seems to be something like that but banged into log as support.

 

I have no use for it other than turning my cs100 over when it's blocked!
