Here is another way of looking at it.

Should dealers only sell to those who are local to them?

Because if you will do internet sales then why should you put someone to the back of the line for repairs if they bring to you for repairs having bought online?

Hi all are usually go up prices in January February next year thanks John's order before then 👍👍👍

Our policy here on repairs is

1. Machines under warranty bought from us are done straight away, above all other jobs, whether bought online or from shop. If need be we will "borrow" a part off another machine to get saw up and running. If a loan saw is needed , so be it

2. Machines bought from us in recent times are next in the order

3. Everything else.

We support those who support us, simple as that. My local insurance broker buys all his kit off us and I spend £15k a year on insurance with him, same with the local travel agent, thats the way it works, almost back to the good old days of bartering.

Just for balance to this discussion I'd like to add that it really depends on the dealer. I priced up some kit with my local dealer and the difference was massive.I took in the prices from jones and honeys (nonsale prices) and asked them how close they could get. I was honest and told the dealer I wasn't looking for him to beat the prices as I'd prefer to buy local but needed closeish). On a 560xpg he was £230 more than jones and couldn't supply with the bar I wanted that was extra. On a blower he was £50 which is basically 25% more. I sympathise with small dealers but it can be very hard to justify the difference sometimes.

It also does not help when they say it will be 3 weeks to fix something you did buy from tgem👎👎👎👎

As far as I see it, there are 3 ways to succeed in business,

1. Give a competitive price , not the cheapest in the country

2. Give a good back up service with product knowledge

3. Keep item in stock, ready to go

I would be interested to know who thinks which point is the most important or what else should be considered and on price what percentage greater than UK cheapest is okay to justify buying locally
