How do you like your woodland mill?

Are these woodland mills transportable or static once built up?

Now I'm getting big wood in,I can never find a miller interested so thinking I'll do it myself!

You can put the mill on a trailer and go too the work with the advantage of a petrol engine self sufficient :thumbup:

Looks good. Do you keep it on the trailer all the time or is it way enough to load / unload.

I have the machinery to lift things easily.

I think the idea is to keep it on the trailer as that way you don't have to keep levelling the bed of the saw. The one shown in the picture is not ideal as he has built the longer trailer* but has the short version of the mill without the track extensions.

I am hoping to modify a galvanised caravan chassis to mount my mill on, I would need to cut and shut the chassis to make it narrower and mount some mudguards on it but it means the brakes and hitch are already sorted.

*Plans are on the Woodlands site for 2 versions of the trailer.

I haven't had delivery yet of the mill but it won't be long , I've got a ready made trailer on its way similar too the photo above dedicated for that mill or the chainsaw mill which works along the same lines as the band mill

Also if your going to have it on the ground and haven't got the log lifting equipment this piece of machinery in the photo , will be worth building :thumbup:

Well according to the wife the mill has arrived, bit of a palaver getting it off the lorry apparently, they sent it on a curtain sider with a tail lift but loaded the lorry so that you couldn't use the pallet trucks to move the crate onto the tail lift.

Luckily we are next to a farm who unloaded it with a forklift from the curtain side.
