So I got robbed at the weekend. Brought 2 saws home to do some proper maintenance on them over the weekend. Van broken into and both obviously gone. It was an old 200t and a 362 and I've got a police ref number but I can't decide if it's worth the insurance claim with an excess to pay and then rise in premiums next time no doubt.

Any thoughts?

What's your excess and what is you NCB percentage? What level of cover? (Old for new).

Or even new for old  Will it be covered on your vehicle policy, your household policy or do you have equipment cover ?

New for old even!

Sorry, I started that off! Some policy that would be!

I'm with arborisk and I think it's a £500 excess ( going to be 250 minimum) and 2.5% NCB per year. I'm a very honest person but think if you have insurance you should use it.

A 201t and 362 is going to cost you about £800 odd with bars and chains. £500 excess so it's a £300 decision on whether loose your NCB.

Yeah I had £500 in my head for some reason. Maybe I'm to honesty for my own good for not "adding" other saws to the list of those stolen but then maybe karma will be kind to me (and cause horrific injuries to the cretins).

You should also be careful posting about it if not claiming as they always ask if you have had ANY claimable problems. I happened to mention reversing into a gate post and paying to have it fixed myself. And they then added it to my policy as a no claim claim or some such rubbish.

Was not very happy!!
