Spiking choking climbing line

when spiking on a pole during a dismantle is there a way of choking the climbing line so that it will grip the pole should you slip off spikes.

I currently use a steel core flip line on both side ds and have my main climbing line around the stem just below. However I feel if slip out spikes my climbing line/flip line wouldn't grip the stem sufficiently to prevent a fall.

Ive heard of people using a running bowline on there climbing line to choke the stem. Could someone explain this method?

If you tie a running bowline into your climbing line and use the loop to choke the stem would the idea be not to clip back into your termination knot/eye? Would it be possible /safe to descend like this if required in emergency?(static line).

Got a bit lost here, but maybe it's because I've had a couple. But imagine this image below as your climbing line around the trunk, you could effectively use a carabiner instead of the bowline to make things a bit quicker (I find). In the second pick you get the idea, without the extra loop around the trunk.

Then your friction device below attached to your harness. And if this is what your on about then yes you can descend on it in and emergency or not.

If I'm choking down a big stem all day and need a brake in between I set this up and get down and it's all set up to get back up quickly without walking back up on spikes.ImageUploadedByArbtalk1449873083.165929.jpg.b2cf180cf46e5ba3fa6ff50132cbca09.jpg
