I was looking at those earlier because of the 3500kg towing capacity, however the issue with derv getting into the sum would put me off buying one atm.

Had mine 2 years now. Only 2 issues had problem with a component braking in the front axle and slight rusting on rear doors where there some spot welds. All done under warranty. I have had 4 Landrovers in the past would not go back. I find it a fantastic tow motor. I ve towed a 3.5 to mewp and forgot I had it on. Best bit is the mpg I get 34 average and 42 on a long run.

I'm on my second ranger after a LR130, my views on LR are well documented, I will say they're bloody good off road. (With mud terrains most things are)

I'd never buy another as a business vehicle.

Excellent to hear as hopefully I will end up down this route rather than the defender.

Not saying I would not buy another defender but as you say Mick not for business!!!

Mines a d max I am afraid I wanted a ranger but there where none around when I was looking. But been very happy with d max overall and considering fuel consumption with very aggressive all Terrian tyres.

I have a new Ranger 2.2 double cab auto.......and love it. Almost constantly towing and last week towed a circa 3 ton digger on a heavy duty plant trailer - all no problem! My one and only concern is that after nearly 1500 miles the average mileage per gallon is only 20.5! Ford indicate that the mileage should improve as the engine beds in and reaches 2,500 miles but only time will tell. My mate who runs a year old manual version and does and lot of towing gets better mileage, around 26, so again that may be a factor.

 

My vote for the "must have" gadget is the reversing camera. No longer do you need to hop in and out, or have a mate to guide you. Easy to quickly hitch up a trailer as you can see the tow-bar right back and under the trailer hitch every time. Absolute heaven!

 

All I hear about the 3.2 is that it's thirsty. Given the above, that sounds very worrying!!

It's probably the auto box making it drink the juice. I get 25 towing in my 2.5 190hp navara

Also try running some v power through it that's the only reason I get that mileage
