This is not a forsale post but just wondered if these would be any good for woodturners/bowl makers?

 

all hardwood, oak/spaulted beech/cherry/holly ect, 3-6" thick 4-20" diametre

 

does this stuff have any use

depending on how well seasoned they are, i often use blank like these as the grain effect once turned is very attractive. however, there is a huge risk of radial splitting. (which can be filled with resin and returned.) if you are anywhere near wrexham, i'll take them.

bowls are turned from along the grain and not from a ring of a tree, that lot has already been sliced up too small to do anything useful in my opinion...

 

Yes Steve is right, end grain turning is very limited. I have tried deep hollowing on many woods end grain on, nearly always splits. Shame as would make getting good sized blanks much easier.
