I would be more interested in why you received this letter in the first place,

Especially if know one else as received one in the same area???

Busy body or competition trying to stir things maybe,

I have asked them if it's gone out to everyone or just me, so far the answer is someone will be in touch. police reckoned whoever burned the forwarder was rival merchant if this is just targeted to us maybe we will have a name.

when using a trailer ?

logsnstuff and vosa may disagree.

Yes when using a trailer.

VOSA do not exist any more, its the DVSA.

There is clear guidance on what is & what is not "hire & reward".

Just because you make money from it does not make it hire & reward.

A hire company can deliver its own equipment & its still not hire or reward re the delivery.

Think more like haulage & courier work delivering other peoples goods under contract not delivering your own goods once sold.

is this your interpretation or have they actually told you this?

when they changed the name guess they changed the rules too.

when they were vosa I and others were told if the goods are ready for sale then you need to have a tachograph even if you are carrying them back to your yard. unsplit rings are not a finished product so no tachograph required.

I would suggest you fire off an email and ask them for some clarification as you have posted on several threads and your opinion is contrary to what others have experienced from these inspectors and it could end up costing some people in fines if you are incorrect. I'll just continue to use the tacho to be safe. plenty posts 12 18 months ago on people being pulled by VOSA you can look up.

Na they were trying to get my address to send stuff out I told them to email it and the same letter arrived today (below).

Please find attached a copy of a letter which is being sent to all firewood sellers in Perth and Kinross who are selling by volume, providing advice about how these sales should be conducted.

Under current legislation you are also required to have the geographical address of your business on your website whether it is for sales or marketing.

Do not hesitate to contact us if you require any further information or advice.

it's making me curious what has got this started. someone in the council maybe got shorted on a log order. perhaps they will start checking Mc to see that seasoned logs are in fact seasoned next.

Ye I was thinking that too. I've never had a complaint over the description of what a customer gets. I thought we'd moved away from the "bulk bag" description and I've pulled them up on the sale of firewood by weight.

Who cant understand "the logs are tightly packed in a cubic meter bag(100cm/100cm/100cm)" I've asked how on earth they expect logs to be marketed.

Do you think they've sent the letter to the superstores selling nets?

I changed my descriptions from cubic meters to bag dimensions but I think tomorrow I'll change it again to both.
