I completed the RFS/ABC cert arb with the HCC 2 years ago now and I really enjoyed the course. I got totally addicted to it and went far beyond what I really needed to, to a level far higher than I needed to do 150,000+ words overall, sketched all my own pictures, diagrams etc, which filled 6 A4 files in total, but it did result in an outstanding student award which I felt was an achievement!!! I then went straight on to the Dip Arb which I got an outstanding distinction and there is talk that I will be becoming a tutor for the HCC in the near future, at some point as well.

I still have all the course materials as well as my multiple file portfolio for the RFS/ABC cert Arb so if you ever need any guidance to point you in the right direction !!!

Hi All, I've also just started the course with HCC. Signed up about 6 months ago but with 2 young kids and setting up a new business I'm only now getting around to actually starting it! Is anyone else a bit confused with the portfolio of evidence? Is this just the work completed in the question booklet or is this separate? Good luck to all, be good to keep in touch as the months fly by!

I guess it must be the same system as what I'm doing with myerscough:

The portfolio is just the individual tasks you do through the term grouped into one document. That's what is externally assessed.

Ye the portfolio of evidence is the completed work tasks in the work booklet which ar then put together to produce one document for each section. When I completed mine I also added photographic evidence of myself undertaking some of the tasks for eg. taking soil samples, soil testing, undertaking a soil survey, tree inspections etc. which provides additional evidence. I also included communications (emails) and i had with outside authorities and the info i received for eg, trees and the law, TPO'S, planning etc. which also provides additional evidence.
