£7 entry for me the wife and two kids with our family Nt membership.

Not sure I would have gone without it.

Thought it was a nice small event with a decent blend of things for the kids plus craft stalls.

The sun helped.

Good to catch up with the Bullman and Haine clans, sorry I didn't see anyone else.

Are you wearing the clothes in your avatar?

No, Sunday best for public appearances.

Got paparazzi'd coming out of the wood turners shed!

Great to catch up with the ever resourceful Agg221, also The Essex Log Man and Father Farmer Ben.

Not the best of shows, Weird and Wonderful Wood gets my vote. The steam powered sawmill was good though and the timber sale tent has got me thinking for the future.

The plank tent got me thinking too, mostly that my own log pile is worth about a million pounds at those prices.

Apparently there was quite a frenzy in there early on the Saturday. If you can sell it then slicing your logs up does seem to add a serious amount of value.

The provenance seems to be really important. People liked the fact that the timber had come straight off the estate.

Locally sourced single estate timber....

Some of mine comes from estates too, but usually a council owned housing estate rather than the posh kind.

All the poplar, willow and leylandii boards must have sold really quick, because there were none left this morning.

Yeah, the good stuff always gets snapped up early.
