Bamburgh, Beadnell or Low Newton by the Sea. The Greys Inn at Embelton has holiday cottages at Newton. Views are spectacular and plenty of sea air, open space for a costal aspect. If its the Northumbrian hills try Alwinton  or west of Wooler, even the Youth Hostel at Mount Hooly, in the college valley, very remote and at the foot of the northern flank of cheviot.
